We have some turnover in the Development department, and someone raised the idea of moving gift entry to the Finance department for all but the most complex gifts. I'm having trouble visualizing how this would work, but as the organization's Controller, I'm intrigued by the idea of having more control over timeliness of transactions. Would anyone be willing to share their structure and how it works? Or how this setup has not worked for their organization? Thanks!

All monies received are input into Tessitura through the Finance Dept but it's not ideal. It has to do more with us being new and not having an experienced CRM person. I'm the first development person and trying to educate them on how to record donations properly, track appeals, etc. If I could wave a magic wand, I would have an experienced Tessitura person in development that would handle all contributions. Right now I work closely with Finance when donations come through to instruct where they need to be recorded. If you have a lot of donations coming in, that would be challenging.
