We have a donor who wants to make two separate contributions with one stock gift, but when I try to split the payment, it says that I "can not enter more than one membership contribution in a single transaction." Normally, I would just enter each payment amount separately with the same check number, but i can't do that with a stock gift since the payment involves three different payment methods (a wire transfer, broker fees, and a gain/loss amount) and I don't see how I can split that up and enter it twice. it's really frustrating that Tessitura doesn't let me do this. Does anyone know a way around this or a way to turn off that constraint? Thanks.
David
Hi David,
Enter one gift applying all the stock payment to that gift. Put the excess money to an On Account payment method. Then enter the second gift paying it off with the On Account money.
We do it that way all the time. Hope this helps!

Hi Sara,
It actually occured to me some time over the weekend (because, yes, i do have Tessitura on my mind, even when I'm not working) that I could use On Account funds to somehow to record this contribution, so I'm glad that your solution at least confirmed that my mind was on the right track. Thank you for your feedback!
You're welcome. I think about Tessitura all the time too. Always trying to learn something new or help someone out. :-)
