Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has used the Credit Card Tokenization and Deletion Utility to delete old credit cards from Tess.
Thanks!
Yes, we actually have it scheduled to run monthly. Keeps our number of stored cc's to a "minimum". We're currently in the process of preparing for tokenization with Payment Express, so are discussing the possibility of running it one last time to delete mostly everything for a cleaner slate for creating tokens.
Is is possible that this utility deleted card numbers my coworker recently entered?
My coworker entered 5 card numbers yesterday. I ran the utility last night and this morning the card number were gone. The documentation here says it deletes inactive cards. My assumption is that my coworker didn't mark these as inactive when she entered them yesterday.
Any thought?

Hi Ashley, I have run this only once so far and was very careful about making sure I had good dates in the Retain cards with expiration date after field. In fact, I probably was overly cautious because I didn't want to delete anything in use. Since this field is optional, did you select fill in a date for this criteria? Knowing how other reports work, it is likely if you didn't fill in a date, you may have deleted everything.
Good point! Thank you. I used the same parameters that my predecessor used and he had the retain cards date far into the future. I am going to make it a past date next time to see if that helps.
I'm replying to this thread so I don't create a new one with the same basic questions (hopefully someone sees it!!)
I'm running this utility for the first time (and am very nervous!) as it is recommended to run before regenerating the database encryption key (which I need to do within the next few days). I'm just hoping that someone could check my parameters to make sure they are mostly okay!!
Karen,
If possible, please share and/or describe the criteria you use for the monthly run.
Thanks,
Seth
