Export to Financial Edge

We are new to Tessitura, converted from Blackbaud products. Our Finance Department is still using Financial Edge for bookkeeping.  I wonder if any organization on the Network established an export procedure to transfer data from Tessitura to Financial Edge? (All contribution and ticketing revenues). Thank you very much.

I am in this same boat of working on the FE / Tessitura integration. Is it possible that someone could setup a goto meeting where we could all chat about this?

    Dear Vanessa,

Thank you for reaching out. I got help from the team in Austin Theatre and found a way to export entries from Tess to FE using Plug-Ins. And also taking data from the Transactions by Posting report. It’s also not 100% automatic but it’s very convenient and easy.

I’d love to share the experience if you’d like. It’s very kind of you to check in.

Thank you very much and have a great weekend!.

    Hi Joe,

Did you get an answer that worked for you?

We have an export procedure from Tessitura to FE, it's not 100% automatic.  We still do some manual work but we are able to export data out of Tessitura (using the Transactions by Posting report) to Excel, then filter, pivot, and format the data to upload into FE as a manual journal entry.

Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.  I'm happy to help!

  • We also have FE and several years ago we had a custom report built that would export data from Tessitura to be imported into FE. Our problem is that it isn't always accurate. The people that built it for us didn't really know how to utilize Tess and we were brand new (didn't know any better!).

I am planning on doing a complete rewrite later this year that we hope will be much  more user friendly and accurate.

Our issues stem from items that aren't pulled by Transactions by Posting. For example, we identify our performances by GL plus Project Code. To save on created a million GLs for all the variations of this we have our Project Code in the performance content tab. Now that we know better, I'd like to move this to Designation. But that still doesn't pull in Transactions by Posting (to my knowledge). The biggest issue is GST. We couldn't justify all the extra work with adding multiple price layers and fees to split out GST is all appropriate places so we flagged our performances and fees as GST yes (and to which GL it goes) or no. Then the custom report does the calculations and backs it out for us.

If anyone else has created something custom (similar to Transactions by Posting but with extra things) I would love to hear about it as well!
