On Demand Events?

Hello all,

It's wonderful reading about all of the ways that Tessitura is helping the Education departments of arts venues around the world!

My organisation is working on offering our education programs through Tessitura, and I'm wondering if anyone else may have a similar experience.

The crux of the issue is how could we offer a range of on demand student talks. The idea being that after browsing descriptions of our student talk offerings, they click on their desired choice, and then enter details to confirm the booking.

The tricky part is how can we make that same session date and time unavailable to other people booking an on demand student talk?

I am assuming that the starting point would be for us to create overlapping performances with the different student talks offered, and then remove from sale the alternatives for that date and time after a person selects a student talk?

Best,

Nicholas

  • Similar to other people on this thread, we are using a combination of custom screens/reports and an external software to track our in-school education workshops. We have one "performance" built for each calendar day of the school year. When a school calls to request a workshop, our staff uses Microsoft SharePoint calendars to ensure that a teaching artist is available and collect some additional information. The order is then booked in Tessitura, where each workshop received for that particular day is one seat in the "performance." The order is sold to the school and special-requested to the teacher. The price type determines the type of workshop. We then have a custom screen on the performance level where we record the actual start time of the workshop(s) along with other free-entry notes. There is then an invoice report that pulls all this together and is sent to the school.

Hope this helps! Please feel free to contact me directly at pschley@firststage.org if I can provide any additional information.
