Does anyone have any suggestions regarding where can one get list of all American Universities/Colleges?
The following is the link that I used to get this data.

You might try government information like:
http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/datacenter/InstitutionList.aspx
I think they will give you a fairly complete list of ~7000 colleges and universities in the USA.
I’ve attached a copy. It is a text file that seems to be pipe “|” delimited.
