Has anyone else noticed that there is nothing Education related at the Tessitura Conference in Denver? I'm just wondering when Tessitura will acknowledge that there are so many of us who use Tessitura for our Education departments. I'm just curious how others feel.
I also noticed that there was a complete lack of anything EDU related this year. I am hoping that when TLCC goes back to "normal" in two years, there will be a concerted effort to ensure there are LOTS of EDU sessions. But I think this is what happens when TLCC isn't curated by users.
Hi Michelle, Planning for TLCC Denver was a bit different this year, because we were uncertain how people would feel about traveling to large in-person gatherings. When planning content, we considered past conference attendance, attendance at last year’s virtual TLCC, and activity by job-role on the website. Individuals in Education roles were not well-represented in any of those datasets. Therefore, our programming for 2022 is more focused on Fundraising, Ticketing, Marketing and Digital.
As in past conferences, all attendees are welcome to bring topics to community-led discussions, and there are many opportunities to do so throughout the conference.
Thank you for your feedback. As we plan future conferences, we will definitely keep in mind your interest in seeing more Education content.
I'm in Education and we have to take turns going to the conference. It's my turn next year, but if there isn't going to be lots of education content, then it wouldn't be worth it for those people in Education to attend. I was actually hoping to see more efforts put into the Education area and more out-of-the-box functionality that we've been waiting so long for. Is there anyway to know before we sign up for the conference next year if Education is going to be represented fully at the conference to make sure it's worth our company's money to send education folks? Thanks so much for your time.
This is a great statement Kristie. Next year is different because there is no actual TLCC. Instead they will be doing smaller meet-ups throughout the country...or...at least that is what was communicated late last year as they announced the TLCC structure for this year. So...TLCC as we remember it isn't supposed to be back until 2024.
I didn't notice any time slots in the schedule or any mention of Open Spaces. Will there be Open Spaces at TLCC this year or not?
What??!?!? I totally missed that. I better drink all the TLCC Kool-Aid I can this year.
You bet. Now...that could change and they could do an in person next year. But when they announced the structure for this year, they also announced how next year would be done and that 2024 would be back to normal.
Thanks so much for your response, Kristen. I'm not going to TLCC this year, but I'm hopeful that future conferences will include more Education-related programming. I honestly think that the reason you didn't see a lot of representation from Education staff at the virtual conferences is that there wasn't any content for us to attend. I know that Education is a growth area for Tessitura, so it would be great to include us in the future. I'm sure you'd get Education department personnel to attend if we had more options. I know I'd push harder to be sent. Thank you!!
Hey Chris! We are hosting Community Discussions which are a lot like Open Space, but a few tweaks. Those time slots will be added to the schedule soon. There will be 9 opportunities for discussions and you will be able to submit topics in advance starting in early August to make it easier to build your schedule.
I missed that, as well! I'd love to hear more about plans for 2023 so I can adjust my budget...
They had mentioned it when they announced how TLCC would be happening this year. I don't see it anywhere on the TN website now, so perhaps that is changing and there will be regular TLCC next year. I'm hoping someone from Tessitura can clarify that.
