Hi
I am in the process of overhauling our School Affiliates in Tessitura (this has never been done/set up since our pre-pandemic Go Live in 2019) so I am starting from scratch and am not a particularly experienced user.
Can anyone advise some user friendly ways of ensuring that the email address that is linked to an affiliation (i.e.not necessarily the individuals primary email) is usable in List Manager (or Extractions) and that the contact permissions for that Affiliated email address are not dependent on the general contact permissions set up for the individual. For example, the individual may not want to be contacted by the organisation on their primary address but is happy to be contacted on their secondary or work email address that is linked to their Affiliated School.
I was looking at possibly using a Contact point purpose called "School Affiliation" to clearly denote which email address should be used in relation to the affiliation... Then, if an affiliate decides they no longer want to receive emails in relation to the school, we would remove the contact point purpose. This set up would require us to ignore our standard contact preferences for that individual when pulling lists (using the contact point purpose as a kind of override to their general communication preferences....).
Can anyone advise if there is a better way of using the system for communication with School Affiliations. I think some organisations use "interest" attributes too but I wasnt sure how this alone would give us the correct email address to use for the individual for that particular type of communication and just seems like an additional tick box to have to administer?
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
I am facing a similar challenge right now as I want to pull the list of buyers of a specific school matinee concert, to send an educational guide by email to the teachers. If I use the Order Export Utility report, instead of getting the Initiator's (Teacher) email address, I get the school's corporate email address and I have to go change the data by hand. In list Manager, I haven't been able to pull the data without getting the full ticket history of each and every buyer, which also means that I need to go validate all the data by hand.
I also tried to pull the data from Analytics, where I get clean and detailed information that I need on each buyer, except for their email address. I scrolled through the help center and this is the only place I found where this was adressed, I was wondering if you had a solution :)
Thanks a lot!
Annie
I don't have a solution to offer - just want to say I too face this challenge. Not being able to reliably report on the Initiator's email address is a challenge for me too. When exploring this problem one workaround we discussed was adding the Initiator email to the Alt/Address field of the Order. Apparently that is a field that can be identified and pulled into Analytics reports. I haven't fully tested that theory, but perhaps worth taking a look at? If you haven't done that already, no use to you for this circumstance, but maybe food for thought moving forward.
If anyone else has wisdom to share on this, I'd be interested to learn of it, too!

Hi Annie! Karoline from Des Moines Performing Arts here.We had a custom report created for pulling data for our school orders. It pulls in the name of the school and relevant data, but it also has columns for the initiator's name and email address. It's not a perfect report by any means, but it has been our cleanest way to consistently match in one report data for both the owner and the initiator.
