Charging for a education course for a class instead of per student

Hi all,

In this new world we're looking to engage with schools digitally or having our educators go to the school rather than having the school come to the museum.

We are wanting to charge a flat fee for these classes & in the past we've always charged per student. The per student model allows us to be able to report on revenue & also how many children we've reached. We want to be able to report in the same way even though we are changing the way we charge to a single fee, for some classes.

We have 2 ideas - one to have the fee added to the first child & then comp the remainder in & secondly to have the price type editable & adjust the price per child once we have the final numbers in.

Neither seem ideal & I wondered if someone has a better idea out there. We haven't really dived into resources yet & I'm wondering if the answer is in there somewhere?

Thanks!

  • We have always charged per session and not per student. We have a price type called "Program Fee" which is where the program cost lives. We then use Student & Chaperone price types at a value of $0 and enter the number of participants. In our case they book online and tell us their estimated numbers, and we ask them to confirm those numbers closer to the date and adjust the order if needed.
