Barcode Report for Education Events

Hello all!

At TLCC this year I attended an Open Space discussion on Education Setup and got a lot of great info from other education programs! Specifically, I heard several people mention that rather than printing tickets for their student and school groups, they generated a barcode report.

I've done some digging and found some good information about getting ticket barcodes into a word document, but I'm looking for a report that would generate one barcode per order - we're trying to avoid scanning in 600+ students as they file into our concert hall!

Thank you!

  • Hey Kristen, Instead of having to scan a barcode for every seat, perhaps you could use composite barcodes for your school groups. That way you could scan one barcode that would scan in all the seats. This is problematic if you get an actual head count and only scan in the actual number of people attended as this may not work for you then. But I would definitely research the use of composite bar codes for your school groups. -Chris
  • Chris and Kristen,

Composite barcodes may not fill the bill here as they are designed to provide access to multiple performances for the same ticket in a single barcode, as opposed to admitting many tickets to the same event. However, as of version 12+ and N-Scan 6.0+, there is a solution that can help: Group Entry by Order Number. If you modify your existing order confirmations to print the order number as a barcode – or simply print a header card with the order number barcoded on it – this tool lets you admit everyone in a single order in one scan. It also lets you specify how many people are attending if they’re not all arriving at once or if the group is smaller than anticipated.
