Hello everyone,
I am beginning the move to using solicitations to track renewals of our Individual & Corporate Campaigns. What I would like to know is if anyone uses Solicitations for large acquisition mailers. I can see updating renewals of 5 - 100, but does it work for 5,000 piece mailers?
Thoughts & advice?
Thanks!

It's definitely possible. Somebody at the conference (I think it was Seattle Opera?) mentioned that they create solicitations for every constituent they're asking for money at any level, numbering in the thousands. I'm intrigued but it seems like it would be a beast to keep them all updated! We use solicitations extensively for our major gifts prospects but we just use source codes for the large acquisition mailers. What are you thinking you'll gain by doing it that way?
Hi Matthew,
Thinking it over, with the staff of 3 we have here, it wouldn’t make sense to create a solicitation for acquisitions. The plan will be to manage our 600+ yearly renewals with solicitations and see how it looks after a year. I like that it will remove a spreadsheet that lives on one person’s desk and makes the info available for all AND a history in the patron account.
We definitely create promotions for all of our large acquisition mailers, so at least the history of us having sent the mailer is in Tessi that way. I suppose the trick is whether or not your team consistently remembers to look at a constituent's promotions down the road. I'm not sure they do. I'm not sure I do, actually--I live in Solicitations mostly too.
We're expanding our use of solicitations for corporate and institutional acquisitions this year so I guess we'll see how that goes. Still nothing on the order of 5,000 to manage though!
