Assigning membership after the fact

Hi there,

Earlier in the year I processed a contribution from a constituent, who has now decided that they want to assign their membership to a secondary person. Is there a way to assign the membership after it has been processed?

I have tried to access the membership from the constituent's record and then modify the "benefactor" field, however this hasn't created a membership for the secondary person.

Is there another way to do this?

    The benefactor field does not create memberships.  You will need to repost the gift and soft credit it to the person who should get the membership.  Sorry
