AF Renewals w/gifts in both Indiv&HH records

So by general rule we have been entering any gifts or ticketing into household records when they exist. My question is.

If Jane Smith gives a gift of $10 and Tom Smith gives a gift of $20 and Jane & Tom Smith give a joint gift of $50 all in the same year, how will that effect my Annual Fund Renewals? We renew once a year based on their total annual giving, adjusting so under Recog. Amt under memberships. If I want to continue to do it this way, will I need to enter any gifts no matter if it came from just Jane for instance, into the household record, so in this example, I send my renewal to Jane and Tom's household for $80?

My assumption is if I enter three separate gifts, one under Jane, one under Tom, and one under Jane&Tom, that it will create three separate memberships, and thus three separate annual renewals?

Thanks,
Heather

  • Oh Anna, you guys are always keeping us on our toes!! Yes, I welcome feedback on my initial question from the group, for today I decided to keep all of these new gifts in the household record.

    Heather,

I will let the group comment on what they would advise for v11, however I did want to mention that with the advent of the initiator on contributions in v12.  You will be able to keep the membership (with the $80 total) on the household and use the initiator field to track which individual initiated the gift.  For more information have a look at the What's New in v12 document.

    Best,

    Anna
