We recently reconfigured our membership levels and are now ready to implement them in Tessitura. The challenge we are running into is figuring out the best way to implement this in tessitura - it doesn't appear to be possible to update the current membership levels, but rather we would have to inactivate the current levels and add in new ones. This would mean that some current members will have the old membership levels and names assigned and some would have the new levels depending on when their gift is received and when the new set-up goes live.
Is this in fact correct that there is no way to update the current levels and that what we need to do is inactivate and set up new ones? How have others dealt with this period of transition/overlap with memberships?
Thanks for any advice and lessons learned you can share!
Hi, Laurel.
You are correct: once a membership level is in use, it cannot be deleted or changed, but it can be inactivated so that no new memberships are created at that level. If you're restructuring your membership levels, you should inactivate the old levels and create new ones.
I would recommend creating the new levels in the same membership organization, if possible, to maintain the automatic trend assignments, even if the messy memberships UI makes it tempting to create a clean slate...
