Hi all,
We've been tracking prospect managers as an Attribute but decided to move it under Relationships. It allows us greater flexibility in assigning folks in different roles (primary, secondary, etc.) as well as retains history.
This scheme seems to work fine with associations however we're having problem affiliating individual prospect managers to household prospects. Even though we've set up a Prospect and a Prospect Manager affil types, Tess will not allow pairing them. Instead, it insists that both affiliates be of the same type, which of course doesn't work for our purposes.
Has anyone come across something similar?

Elina,
We also use relationships to connect our portfolio relationships and came across this issue in upgrading to V11.
Since affiliations only work one way, we use the affiliation type of “Portfolio Manager” for any corporations, foundations, or households with a PM. This still allows you to connect everyone and the relationship looks the same in the constituent record, but it will look slightly different in the PM’s record as associations will have their matching pairs visible but the affiliations will only show the type that you choose (either “Prospect” or “Portfolio Manager”).
Because of the new constituent model, you probably just have to get used to using only one affiliation type rather than the paired associations that we are all used to. Choosing the Portfolio Manager affiliation type works for our business model, but you can use whatever seems to match your associations best.
Hope that helps!

"Tornado Alley will blow you away," said Pioneer Press movie critic Chris Hewitt about the current film in the Science Museum of Minnesota's Omnitheater. Audiences will experience "how thrilling it can be to chase after big storms." Make plans to see Tornado Alley in the Omnitheater and BODY WORLDS & The Cycle of Life in the Science Museum exhibit halls. Reserve your tickets at www.smm.org.

Laine,
Thank you so much for your response. So helpful to know this is exactly how they system functions and it's not just me going crazy! The way you're handling it is precisely how I was going to approach if my suspicions were confirmed. So we'll just leave them as PM on all affiliations and I will just need to educate our users on how to interpret the records.
Thanks again!
