We are still implementing Tessitura and I don’t know where else to look for answers to this problem.
Our organization sends Holiday Cards with the proceeds supporting our Education efforts.
For example, a patron will donate $100 and provide a list of 10 names.
On behalf of the patron, we will send a card to the 10 referenced people.
We record the patron’s donation of $100 as a hard credit, and each of the 10 names will receive a $10 soft credit.
The Contribution entry process functions as expected, except for one specific contribution.
The patron donated $500 and included 21 names.
20 individuals received a soft credit for $23.81, and one individual received a soft credit for $23.80 (totaling $500).
When attempting to write the contribution records to the database, this error appears:
An error occurred while trying to save this customer session to the database.
No changes were made to the database-creditees.
Clicking OK will eventually force me to exit the Contribution process for that particular constituent.
I am using an uncontrolled batch (the same batch was used to process several other “holiday card” contributions).
The source number is the same, the referenced date is correct – all fields appear to be OK.
I can process a similar contribution (with same parameters) that includes soft credits for 10 individuals without a problem.
Is there a limit to soft credits? Is there a table value that should be changed?
Any suggestions or thoughts?
Thanks to everyone

Hi Wendell,
Have you tried closing that batch and opening a new one in which to process the gift? That would be my first troubleshooting step. There may be a table lock of some sort on one of those patrons. I think usually Tessitura will tell you these things, but it is worth a try.
Wendell, in hindsight since this is a database error you might want to talk with your implementer or open a help ticket on TASK just to be safe.I think each organization has a limited amount of people that can submit tickets to the help system so you may need to find out who has the ability to submit them if you don't.
Cheers!
I have been having this same problem when entering multiple matching credits from one check. Wendell - were you able to get an answer for this problem?
Thanks,
Amy Beth
I'm late to the game but I just went through this. I had a contribution that was previously entered. There are now a list of about 100 folks that needed to have soft credit added. So to do this I loaded the previously entered contribution and added the credits. However, when I tried to enter more than 5 creditees at a time (sometimes even just 3), I get the following error (same as you posted above):
An error occurred while trying to save this customer session to the database. No changes were made to the database-creditees.
