Hi there,
We are a little behind on our v.11 upgrade, but it means I get to pick everyone's brain about migration choices! For the most part we are planning to stick with the default/recommended values in the TRU_MIGRATION_DEFAULTS table, but I am tempted to set either New Record Create Date to the date of our Migration, or set New Record Created By to v.11. I know we will definitely want to retain Original Source, but I feel that these are rarely referenced by my users and might be nice to have at some point...
This question may better belong in the technical forum, but I also think it would be my Dev department with strong feelings, so I thought I'd come to you all!
Any insight appreciated -
Frannie
Hi Frannie -
I'll admit to having the original source be a V11 Migration source. We've found this has been useful when looking at accounts to instantly see if a particular account was created via the migration effort or not. We don't rely particularly on original source - but my theory on that is that you want the original source of a particular account to be the actual reason a particular account is created - not inherited from a household.
We did leave the created date to be the household date because we show that in the header and sometimes use it to judge the length that someone has been with us - so for our particular business practices we wanted that to be the same as the household.
That's my 2 cents!
Heather
Hi Heather -
Thanks for this. Definitely helpful just to know that some other places have bucked the recommended value in these tables and held on to some reference to the update.
I tend to agree with you about Original Source, but many of the records at our org. have more specific Original Sources (almost but not quite like a Constituency or Attribute) and can be used in List Manager - so on the same Business Practice note I think we'd need that to be inherited.
I'm thinking Create_Date or Created_By might be better for us - has anyone set your migration date or v.11 for these values?
Thanks again!
