Organization Recognition

We recently converted to Tessitura and would like to ask a question from a Development Department standpoint.  Is the best way to track Corporate/Foundation recognition levels, benefits, expiration dates, etc. through Memberships?

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi Dana,

Memberships are built for this type of thing and I feel they do the job well. I think most orgs probably have separate membership organizations for each type.
One thing I will caution is to have a very clear plan going in as memberships do require some upkeep and can get out of hand easily if no one is paying attention.
Discuss early if you want a fixed date membership or not and stick to that decision.
Make sure that there is someone to stay on top of monitoring the memberships and ensuring that the gifts are being recorded correctly.
In short, don't set them up just to have them and wait till later to nail down all the particulars.

    Cheers!

Agreed on all points. We have several different membership organizations organized around our different donor programs. It can be a little confusing at times but it works pretty well, I think. The T-Class on memberships is a good starting point (or refresher!)
