Sponsor Benefits as Premiums?

Hello Development gurus,

My org is embarking on integrating our Development activities into Tess. On of our big development vectors is the recording and reporting on benefits that our sponsors and donors receive. Such benefits would be things like having their logo on our website, getting some signed books, private dinners etc.

I have been imagining that we could record these as Premiums in the original contribution. This sounds like a good approach, as the 'Availability Date' could be the the date when the benefit is planned to be given to the sponsor/partner, and the ship date could be the date the benefit was actually delivered.

Has anyone else explored this, or met any challenges with this?

Best,

Nicholas

  • Hey Nicholas - we're looking at the same thing. Give me your email address.

  • The trick to this as I see it is having these premiums on all your applicable appeals --- that is if you want them included as part of the non-deductible for receipting purposes.   If you don’t then you could just add manually

  • Great point Leslie, the help files echo that thought:

The automatic selection of premiums in a contribution can be turned off if manual selection is desired. To set up a premium for manual selection, set the Start andEnd amounts to 0. The premium will never be automatically selected but it will be available for manual selection if the contribution uses a source from the appeal.

We’re still implementing Tessitura, and we still have some questions on how best to manage Sponsorships.

Current sponsors don’t receive many benefits, but this may change in the future.

Would y’all please include me in any offline discussions?

Your processes may help us determine our processes as we continue with our implementation.

    Thank You
