acknowledgement set-up

Hello,

We are new licensees and just went live, and we're on v. 11.  I attended all of the acknowledgement letter sessions at conference - but in trying this out in TEST, I seem to be missing a key beginning step, because I can't even get an acknowledgement report to run.  Is there a basic set-up before all of the major steps (template, report, merge, etc.) are performed?  I read the documentation but when it talks about InfoMaker, I'm lost. Do I need to pay someone with expertise to get us initially set up to do acknowledgments, or is it something pretty easy that I'm missing?  Thanks for the help!
