Place to store maiden name

Hello!

Wondering if anyone has a great place to store maiden name.  I'm contemplating setting up an alias type.  Thoughts?

Thanks

Selga

Yes!  An alias with a Type of Maiden Name is what we use.

In reverse, if one of our constituents has a married name but mostly goes by her maiden name, we put her married name as an alias and leave her maiden name as Last Name in the General Tab.  That way if we get a check from Mrs. Married Name we can still find her.

  • Selga,

That’s exactly what we do.  We have an alias type of Maiden Name and that’s where we record and store it.  Because it’s an alias, it is part of the search when doing a constituent search.

  • I agree - alias type is a great option.  You will find some constituents will give you the married name or the maiden name interchangeably depending on which card they are using or which type of transaction they are making.  It helps that the alias is a searchable field so the same account will come up no matter which last name is typed and you will avoid duplicate accounts being created.

  • Hi Selga,

That's where we store it, but I am interested to see if anyone else has a better place.

  • We use an alias type for maiden name.

  • Hi Selga,

We use alias in recording maiden names.  The advantage to this is the maiden name as an alias will come up in a search.
