Here is our situation ... we have a separate record for each bank branch, retailer location and perhaps each partner at a law firm. We book incoming funds to the record that matches the name on the check. This is great if we want to report on how much money we've received from the individual entity; however, presents a problem when we try to globally recognize or benefit the company as a whole. We also encounter issues with ticket orders and, specifically, subscriptions. We know that v12 will bring with it a lot more functionality, but in the meantime we're wondering how others have built this structure.
Do you ...
1. Break out banks, firms, and retailers by their branch, partners and locations? If so, how to you handle transactions (tickets and donations)?
2. Create one record for each company (for instance, Macy's) and roll all of the locations into one record? If so, do you ever encounter issues trying to fullfil benefits or ticketing contacts? (We're thinking of moving toward a "one record per tax ID policy.)
3. Have another idea that seems to be working pretty well?
