changing a posting date after posting?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the posting date on a large batch after it has already been closed and posted?  Apparenlty our fall write-offs that were written off en masse on 7/19/12 using the Cancel/Write off Report needed to have a posting date of 6/30/12 (for finance reasons) but were posted on 7/19/12, which is going to mess up finance and the audit and the like.  Does anyone know if there a way to take that large group of write-offs (there were hundreds) and change the posting date to 6/30/12?

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Marcy,

Yes you can! We’ve done it before however it requires IT help. IT has to release the batch (unpost it) and then it will be back in your queue and you can change the date and re-post it. We give the IT department the posting number and they are able to do it (and then that posting number is no longer available).

I can ask IT for more details if you want!

    Thanks,

    Marta

  • That’s great!!!  And now that you mention it, I think years ago we actually did this once….I had forgotten.  I will check with the people involved to see if that is what they want to do.  Thanks so much for your help!
