We recently went live with a TNEW Express Web site, and part of the functionality involved auto-contribution entry into a person's account when making a web donation. By this I mean that if someone made a donation, it would automatically appear in their account in the contribution tab. No messing around with on-accounts etc.
From a functional standpoint, it works beautifully (magically, even!) but I noticed that we are unable to adjust that contribution later on. We discovered this when doing a test transaction (following the live conversion) in order to ensure that the credit card server was working correctly with TNEW. We figured that afterwards we could go back and refund this transaction. But no such luck. When I tried, I got a pop-up message that said there were no eligible contributions. The usual adjustment window that shows recent contributions didn't even appear, even though there is definitely a contribution in that person's account.
We've looked at the set up and can't figure out what the problem is. It's not a new campaign or fund, and the TNEW table that built this auto-donation-entry functionality even has a checkbox selected in a column that says something to the effect of "contribution editable".
Do anyone have an idea as to what the obstacle could be? I've never come across an issue like this.
Thanks!
This sounds a lot like what I deal with often when adjusting our web and box office sales. As Beth suggested, you will likely have to go into the orders module in order to either fully adjust the gift or (as we do) put the money on account and re-open the batch in the contributions module in order to properly re-sell the gift.
I have previously noticed that pop-up when a constituent only has contributions made through the orders module. Simply go in and adjust the order to put the money on account and you should be fine.

My guess is that it's because all web transactions, including donations, are made via a ticket order. You can't edit a contribution made in the ticket order module via the contribution module. We aren't on TNEW, but over half our gifts are made via the box office or the web, so we see this all the time. Though it is odd that there was a popup about "contribution editable"...What kind of adjustments are you trying to make? You may have to do a workaround to make them happen...

This is an absolute shot in the dark, but would batch type or user group be an issue? Since the contribution was made by the web user, maybe you need to log in as the web user and/or use a web batch to make an adjustment to the contribution.
