Number of members in the past

I've got a crazy question.  By any chance has anyone out there found a way to accurately identify people who WERE current members as of a given past date?

For example, say someone wants to know the number of members you had as of January 1, 2009.  That doesn't mean people who expired in January of 2009.  It also doesn't mean people who purchased during January 2009. Has anyone come up with a listbuilder or T-Stats element to pull this somehow?

Just curious.  Thanks!

Beth

  • This may not be fool proof, but may get you close to what you need -

If your memberships are 12 months (perhaps a big assumption...), then it might follow that anyone who has an expiration date in their history between Jan 2 2009 and Jan 1 of 2010 would have likely been active on Jan 1 of 2009.  So, perhaps criteria of Expiration Date BETWEEN 1/2/2009 AND 1/1/2010 would get you there?

I've been lurking on this for a month to see if anybody had a better answer than what we do at City Center, but what Nick said is exactly what we do.

We count members in their lapsed period (three months) in our count of current members, so we would expand the between date back to 10/2/2009.

The only discrepancies between this list and a list that you actually pulled at that time should be memberships where you later manually adjusted expiration dates.

Oh, and inactive records wouldn't show up in List Manager, either.
