Marking contributions across various constituents

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help us with the following contribution conundrum. For donors who contribute as a foundation for tax reasons, is there a way to have the contribution show up at all levels, e.g:

- Mr Smith

- Mrs Smith

- Mr + Mrs Smith Household

- Smith Family Foundation (wishes to be acknowledged as such)

I've tried various affiliation arrangements but haven't managed to get the contribution across each constituent.

We also have another constituent that contributes from a total of three different foundations- any suggestions on the best way to manage that?

Thank you in advance!

  • Could you enter contribution on account from which the money comes and soft credit the other accounts? I believe contribution would show up on all accounts that way.

  • Andrea,

I hope that I understand what you are asking, but I think there are 2 things which need to be put into place - assuming you are meaning to have the contribution appear in 2 different accounts.

    1. The program listing is how you recognize the contribution in publications - so you can put the same "Smith Family Foundation" in both the household record and foundation record.

    2. So that you see the contribution on both records, when the contribution is entered, you can soft credit one of the accounts.

We have list criteria which were built to include soft credits in our results when pulling lists. Both constituent records would appear in the results and some de-duplication would need to be performed.

Again, I hope I understood what you were asking and this helps.

    Thanks,

    Marie

  • Thanks Nancy and Marie- soft crediting seems like the way to go!
