Contributing to Multiple Funds/Designations through One Contribution Editor

Many of our contributions/donations often are given in one lump sum to different fund/designation combinations.

Is there a way to enter segments of the contribution into different funds/designations within ONE Contribution Editor page?

Example: A Board Member has given us $28, 000.  We would like to split this amount up to pay towards Board Dues, Fall Benefit Contributions, Gala Contributions, and towards a Program Underwriting Pledge.Rather than enter her in with four separate contributions of $2500, $7500, $1500, and $16, 500 totaling one amount, can I split it all within the one contribution entry?

Doubt it but thought I would ask!

Thanks so much to any/all who help,

LDS

Yes, it is possible to enter *most* gifts into different contributions.

At City Center our Board members often give to multiple efforts with one check.  We will enter the full check amount into the Payment screen and use *part* of that check to create a new gift (or pledge payment).

Once you enter one of the contributions, press OK, but don't press Done because you are not done with the rest of the transaction.  You then go back up top, change the solicitor and source code (if necessary) and press "New" or "Pledge Payment" and enter another contribution/pledge payment with a different fund and/or designation until you have entered everything on your pledge.  Once all contributions are entered, then you can finally press Done.

This still shows up in Tessitura as four different contributions, but they are all part of the same customer session.

Mike that's GREAT advice... exactly what I was looking to do... Hopefully it will speed up our processes, and make sure that all parts are data-accurate.

  • Hi Liz,

I hope that solves your issues, Just FYI…If the same membership campaign is connected to two of the funds you are using, you may still have to use multiple contribution sessions.  In these cases, I still enter the full check or charge and put a portion On Account to pay off the next pieces.
