Memberships - not contributed income

Hello Tess Superusers,

How are other orgs using memberships for earned revenue vs contributed income?

We're currenlty selling memberships via web as earned revenue, but the memberships are being counted as a contribution in the patron's record.

We thought of putting the web purchases on account but how would we draw down the monies as earned revenue later?

Any thoughts appreciated.

  • Hi Tatiana,

At ACMI, we 'sell' contributions over the web and counter that put the money 'On Account', in a special on account payment method called 'ACMI Membership'. Then a CSI is created automatically by TNEW or manually by the operator. The CSI alerts the Memberships Office to open their Contributions Module, to create a new contribution to the relevant fund using the on account money. It works great for us!
