Hello --
Has anyone developed any testing protocols that help you determine the level of a potential hire's understanding and expertise with gift entry/processing/data management in Tessitura or their aptitude to quickly grasp how to do the same? I'd welcome any thoughts on what a testing procedure might consist of and when during the hiring process you administer such a test.
Thanks,
John
I don’t have a testing protocol for new hires, but if someone has familiarity with Excel, Access, mail merging in Word, and comfort with a keyboard, that’s a good sign. If I were screening potential employees, I’d give a typing test—not for speed, but for accuracy. I’d ask them to set up a simple mail merge. The one hiring situation I had anything to do with in Development staff was a hire from within—someone I’d trained in the box office, so that one was easy!
