Personalized emails through TMS

Hi,

I'm preparing an email blast through TMS to send to a group of subscribers from our Executive Director.  He'd like to address them by first names.  I have a salutation type called "First Names" that I exported from my extraction, but I noticed on the TMS home page, there was a document about personalization.  I used the code %%$first%% but that is just giving me the first name of the first person on a constituent record.  So instead of reading "Dear Judy and Bob" it's just reading "Dear Judy".  I'm guessing I just need the code for an inside salutation.  Can anybody help me out with that?

Thanks,

Anthony

I'm sure that TMS would be willing to help as well, but I'll throw in my 2 cents here anyways.  I'm assuming you are uploading this list from Tessi - if you aren't this answer isn't going to apply. I think what you will need to do is to create output (using output set builder is one way) that has your esal1_desc (or lsal depending on what you want to use). This is the best way if you are getting the info out of Tessi through extractions. There are other ways, but they won't give you the DL number you need to sync to Tessi.

Then, on the TMS side, you'll want to create a custom attribute that is something like 'inside_sal' or whatever you want to call it -- this is located under the constituent menu in TMS called 'Custom Attributes'. I'm not sure what kind of permissions you need/have, but if you don't see that, talk to whomever administrates your TMS at your organization. When you are uploading your file, just link the column that has your salutation to this new custom attribute. Change your field in the email to %%$inside_sal%% (or whatever you make as your custom attribute) and you are good to go.

Thanks Heather!  Setting up the custom attribute worked for us.
