Tax receipt not deducting Non Ded Amt

We have just recently held an elevated event with a non deductible amount of $250.  When we are generating our tax receipts, this non deductible amount is not coming off the value of the tax receipt.

Any ideas as to why this is not coming off the value of the tax receipt? A step we have missed somewhere?

The Special Events Receipt Listing in Labels and Letters has the deductible/nondeductible information, but in order to have the report run correctly you have to set up the Levels tab in your Elevated Events campaign setup and assign the appropriate Level to each participant.  Remember that while the patron address information does not appear in the screen report for Special Events Receipt Listing, if you export it to Excel it will have that data.

As with all things Tessy, there are a bunch of steps to set it up, but it’s definitely worth doing and you can “reuse” the Levels in subsequent years.  The Elevated Events documentation spells it all out.

We process all contributions that have deductible and non-deductible portions into separate funds, put the acknowledgment on the deductible portion, and use the custom1 field to hold the total payment, so our receipt says something to the effect of “thank you for your gift of <custom_1>, of which <recd_amt> is deductible.”
