Deleting a campaign

In an effort to deal with an internal issue of too many campaigns (one for individual, one for corporate, one for foundation, etc.), I am trying to consolidate them into one annual fund campaign. I was able to easily delete the campaigns with no money booked to them, and had to rebook only 10 pledges from individuals to the new annual fund campaign. I've also made sure that there are no solicitation records attached to the rogue campaigns.

Unfortunately, I am unable to delete the campaign from which I had to rebook gifts. Can someone shed light on why and how I can make it go away???

    You cannot delete a campaign once a gift or pledge has been booked to it, even if you have adjusted it out.  It is because the transactions still remain with that campaign number attached to them.  Also there will be a gift record with a zero amount in the constituent's account.

    Dale is correct.  We had a similar situation at City Center.  In Campaign setup I just set all the unnecessary campaigns to have their funds valid until "yesterday".  Then I added those funds to the annual campaign as of today.  Then I switched the unnecessary campaigns from Active to Inactive.

    They are all still there, but they are no longer showing up as options to enter gifts into.  Our finance department was also satisfied with the way I backed out and re-entered gifts.

    So what you did should be fine; you'll just have to Inactivate the campaigns.
