I'm running into a problem trying to create sources from the extract constituents module. I would like to have one source for all the inclusion segments in my extraction. The documentation clearly states that I should be able to, "Extraction sets can create source codes, one for each segment or one for the set as a whole, and promote the sources to the records of the constituents selected by the set. " However, I can't find in the documentation how to do so. Normally, I just save each set to list and create sources manually through appeals, but I was hoping to make better use of this specific functionality. It might just be a business practice thing. We will merge things in house and then while the letters are waiting for a gift officers signature the gift may come in, so before we mail we always pull a list to see if any gifts have come in between when we pulled the list and are ready to send. The easy workaround for this is to run the delete promotions report after the fact to delete the promotion of the record of those we didn’t actually send the letter to. In most other circumstances we’d be able to promote right away, but with solicitations there tends to be a delay.

Hi Marta,
You are correct. If you extract to a list you only get one source, and if you extract to a file you get one source per segment but you must promote at the time of extraction. What’s the reason you don’t want to promote at the time of extraction when extract to a file? Just trying to see what the best solution might be for you.

I run into this problem myself sometimes, however the canned 'Delete Promotions and Sources' report does not allow you to delete via a list, it only lets you delete the entire promotion.Do you guys have a custom version that lets you delete via a list?
