Hi there. I'm wondering who out there has provided their patrons with the ability to login and view their membership/general acct information online? If you have done this, could you please share how? Via a 3rd party who built this for you? Is there a pre-existing events and membership management software from which you created a bridge to Tessitura? (I have looked at the 2009 census results but would like some new feedback if it's out there.)
The development staff at New World Symphony is reaching its limits in what it can continue handling via internal data entry and update when it comes to our Friends of New World young professionals membership program. Benefits this group receives are special pre and post concert events, the ability to purchase tickets to these events for their friends that are not currently Friends members, the option to purchase a specially designed Friends Subscription.
Currently you can create an acct with us online, purchase tickets, make a general annual fund donation or purchase merchandise. Our membership and events team is very interested in the software Wild Apricot, even if it must be a mid-step between our current situation and a truly Tessitura integrated online membership/rsvp management function.
In total, we are looking to dramatically augment the patron online experience to acheive the folllowing:
- Membership purchase, renewal & upgrades
- Event RSVP function
- Personalized calendar showing events related to the membership as well as concerts for which the member has tickets
- summary of benefits at corresponding level
If we can acheive the above for the Friends program then we will happily roll it out to our non-membership donor groups of a certain level and higher.
Thanks in advance for any info you can share!
Michelle Kucharczyk, New World Symphony

Beth,
Thanks so much for the response. I remember your presentation during the E-Philanthropy session at the 2008 conference in Nashville. That session left a strong impression on me. Would love to learn more. Will send you a direct email.
Thanks and have a great weekend!
~Michelle
One more thing I’d like to chime in on. We do online event RSVPs at the Science Museum as well. There is a special attribute coded on everyone’s record that is invited allowing them access to online registration. Our events are not usually open to the public so it’s our way of restricting it. The financial transaction happens live in the database to the correct event fund and it triggers a CSI with their guest information/special needs. We then go into the donors record and update the event tab with that information.

We at the Science Museum do allow members to renew their memberships online, as long as they are not receiving a major discount that requires proof of eligibility. They can also view their membership level and expiration date. I'm not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, but my understanding is that this is all done through the API. Members can purchase member rate tickets online, and levels that qualify can also purchase guest tickets at a discount, so I would think you could allow them to purchase free guest tickets if you so desire. Our initial web implementation was done by a 3rd-party programmer, but it's all through Tessitura; some edits were done by in-house IT staff.Happy to share more (or connect you with the people who know more) if you'd like - just let me know!Beth* * * * *Get ready for an unforgettable encounter 3,000 years in the making. Our patrons can view their membership status when they log into their account. They can also become a member or renew an existing membership, and receive immediate benefits such as members-only ticket purchasing and discounts. Adding a membership to the cart triggers a different mode-of-sale which gives the discount, etc. Please take a look at our site (www.flynncenter.org) and let me know if you have any questions.
