Year-End Tax Summary

We send tax receipts for the contributions we receive, but we would like to be able to provide a year-end tax summay to our donors. Does anyone currently provide this and have a process in place for how to do this?

Any help is appreciated.

  • We have a custom report we can run that provides a summary of all tax-deductible contributions within a date range.

Because we have non-deductible monies being handled via the Contributions module, we needed a way to define what was deductible and what wasn’t. We use fund designations to isolate gifts and event deductibles from fair market value.

Our report searches for all items in funds with the deductible designation types. In InfoMaker, I prettied up the report with our logo and address so that we could send it to patrons who request it. (We acknowledge every gift shortly after we receive it, so haven’t felt the need to send everyone a year-end summary.)

I’d be happy to share off-list if you think that our report would be helpful.

  • Hi Marie,

We send a year-end itemized receipt to patrons making pledge payments.
It's a fairly simple solution and you should be able to do something similar without any customization for everyone, if that is your wish.

Basically for ours, I just set up a secondary acknowledgement to generate anytime  the following "transaction types" happen.

    Pledge/Payment
    First Payment
    Payment
    Final Payment

At the end of the year we print these, error check the output, and merge them into a word document.
(getting all the payments to merge into one page is the only tricky part)

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Ryan -

We are trying to do this as well and you are right, getting all the payments to merge into one page is where we are failing.  Do you have any suggestions in this area?

    Thank you,

    Shoshana
