Good day.
I'm looking for best practices on how to track and report on the following scenario. We are creating special membership groups in which an Annual Fund donor can make an additional gift and "opt-in" to a special donor group. The donor will already be a member of our standard group but I want to make them a member of the new group as well.
As it is now financially the money all goes to the same fund which will not allow me to create a seperate campaign for the new donor group. I'm leaning towards creating a new fund, campaign, and membership structure to make this work but would like to know if anybody else has tried something similar.
Thank you all. Happy Holidays.

Hey Kevin,
A couple of questions or things to think about:
Will the new group have levels as well, or will they just qualify as members of it from doing an add-on? Also, why not have a new fund?
If it’s a new group with different levels based on add-on, it seems like you could add a new fund that points to the same G/L account as your original fund. That way you can segregate the add-on money, put the fund into a special campaign (since that’s what this is, right? A special add-on campaign), and then set up a set of special membership levels.
If they just qualify as being a member of a group from donating the add-on, I would still set up a new fund, but I would put it in the same campaign. I would then attach a constituency to any gifts made to that fund that will flag these people as part of your add-on group. If membership in the group only lasts a certain period, you would have to then play with ListBuilder and schedule the Manage Constituency report to keep your data current, but that’s easy enough to do.

Thanks Rey,
I was leaning the way of creating a new fund. I just needed to hear it from another source and see if anybody else had any other ideas.

You might look at using premiums. We have a group that receives a couple of extra wine and cheese benefits and some special attentions across our membership levels, which we've been tracking with a premium for about a year pretty successfully. There's not an extra contribution involved (lower FMV for the same contributions level). Probably not for your specifics, but just in case someone may be reading along who's in a situation more like ours.
