Backdating the payment date

I am trying to backdate the payment date. I have done some searching on Tessitura Knowledgebase, and found below resolution but it is not working eventhough I have done all steps as instructed. Can someone please help me? Thanks.

Issue Summary: Backdating pledge payments

Detailed Description:

To enable backdating of pledge payments, create an entry in T_DEFAULTS with the parent_name 'IMPRESARIO', field name 'CONTRIBUTION PMT DATE CHANGE' and the value 'Yes'.  After you log out and back in, the payment date entered in the contribution editor will be used to backdate the pledge payments.  If this entry does not exist, or the value is 'No', the current date and time will be used as the payment date, regardless of what is entered in the contribution editor date field.

 ======

We are unable to backdate a pledge payment properly.  I have followed the
instructions as outlined in Solution 15154 however it still will not work.  All pledge payments are taking on todays date.  Did the method change from the one outlined in that older solution?

Resolution:
Here are the steps you need to follow if you want to change the date on a pledge payment: 1. Select the Constituent and Click 2. In the payment window enter in the payment and click 'OK' 3. Enter in the Source and Click 4. When the Existing Contributions Window pops up Click 'Cancel'; do not select a pledge for payment at this point. 5. Edit the date in the date field. 6. Click on the 'Pledge Payment' button. At this point the Existing Contributions Window should pop up and you can now select the pledge for payment. If you do not want the Existing Contributions Window to pop up after you enter in the source you will need to change your Preferences under the Tools menu: A. Click on the 'Tools' menu B. Select -Preferences- C. Uncheck the 'Automatic Notification of Open Pledges' checkbox (4th down on the right) This process will eliminate the popup window in step 4 above.

  • Just a quick clarification - this allows you to alter the Payment Date, which is not the same as the Transaction Date or a pledge Installment Date.

    For a visual on what I mean, double click on a gift in the Contribution Tab.  Then, double click on the gift transaction in the Contribution Detail Trainsaction Tab.  A window will pop up with the Payment Detail.  This is the date that this function allows you to edit.

    If your intention is to back date the Transaction Date, this is never possible.

  • Hi Nick,

    Thanks for the explanation. I thought Contribution and Payment date are different. For your perspective, is the transaction date editable from backend? The reason to get the transaction date changed is we just transferred from Raiser's Edge to Tessitura and there are some contributions, pledges and pledge payments was not migrated from the conversion and required to enter manually. If the transaction date of the historic contributions is current date, that will affect the reporting on contributions.

    Cheers

  • I discovered that while I could backdate a pledge payment (with the appropriate entry in the T_DEFAULTS table), I had to re-enter the backdated date each time, even though it appears to be the same on the contribution entry screen.  In other words, once I backdated a pledge payment, the contribution date in the next entry appeared to be the same as the last, but if I didn't re-enter the contribution date for the next backdated pledge payment, it used the transaction date instead.
