How do I handle applying a payment from a Foundation to another constituents pledge?

You can enter it in the constituent’s file -- when you are filling out the Payments Screen, indicate the name of the foundation in the Name field on that screen.  Then you can apply that payment to the pledge.  That would give you a record of who actually wrote the check.

Accounting purists, however, would urge that you set up a new record for the foundation and record the payment there, giving a soft credit to the constituent.  You would then have to adjust the pledge in the constituent file to reduce it by the amount of the payment from the foundation.
