Pulling a List by City

Hola friends of Tessitura,

I am wondering if anyone has a way, or if there is a way already that I just don't know about, to pull a list of constituents by the city they live in? To provide context, we have a couple of winter birds that travel outside of Chicago. However, outside of the few we do know, I am worried that there might be someone I am missing. Is there a way to pull folks who live in a specific city?

Thanks for the help!

Best,

Carlos

  • Hey Friend,

Postal Code is a lot of boring work and I'm assuming that you want to aggregate the "city" that they live in rather than the 100 different names of specific local inside of the big city of choice.

I think what most people do (this is what I've set up a couple of times) is to set up GEO AREAs that match what you want.  I'm Australian so my setup won't track but we have a Local Government Areas that are between the Postal Code and the State level.  They are handy and used in Census demographic work.  The default in Tess is a NYC example.

An easy way of getting it done, if you don't already, is polling other arts orgs in your region at a meetup and "borrowing" their set up and map out the addresses you have and then updating the procedure that adds that Geo Area to every new address.
