Elevated events, RSVP’s and Guests

Question for all those dev specialists out there!

The way we here at the Arts Centre sell our memberships are for single members and double members. Double members can either be, partners, friends and they don’t have to reside at the same address as each other.

When we create an elevated event, we promote to the single members and to the double members on each account to each address and constituent.

When we take an RSVP we have an issue with the double members. If one calls up – pays for both to the event and then we add the second person as a ‘guest’ (even though they have their own promotion) within that transaction, the event then comes up twice on  the constituents account  - once being the promotion and the other being as someone’s guest.

I was wondering if there is a way that we could link the processing of the ‘guest’ for the elevated event to automatically see if they have had that event promoted, and if so change the promotion to ‘accepted’?? Possible….? Therefore still being a guest to someone but also realising that their promotion has been accepted.

What is most important is the reporting – it is more important for our dev team to report that the double member is coming as a guest (which kinda goes against the way we do our double members I know)

Or simply – ANY other better way to do this??

Thoughts appreciated

  • Hey Ranie,

It’s not fancy, but here at the Public when we have a similar issue, staff just know to delete the original promoted event (and leave the guest since it makes it easier later to know the two separate constituents should be seated together). It’s not automatic at all, but it works!
