During our subscription renewal campaign each year, we get a number of contributions that come in with the subscription order. We typically have our box office put this money on account and then in development, we process the gifts. It has always been standard that we apply this money to our next fiscal year.
This year, we are changing our practice and will apply the money for our current fiscal year. The issue I am facing is how to technically attribute the gift with its benefits for next year, but count the money for this fiscal year. In other words, I would want to be able to capture these donors when we are fulfilling benefits or tracking giving next season. We are currently not using the membership module.

Of course best way to do this is with memberships.
Failing that you should be able to keep them all separate by putting them all in a different appeal or even just unique soruce codes. Lists can be pulled on either.
