Hi Matt! So our system is somewhat similar, but we're given the option to say "Yes" or "No" to using the HH instead of the individual record:
Do you have a Database Administrator or other IT person who handles the backend? If so, I would talk to them about that option (I don't know how it works on the back end, so I can't provide guidance on that).
The other thing (which may not help for your specific situation, but wanted to suggest) is we have a custom list criteria that pulls gift information based on whether the person is the Owner, Initiator, or both for a specific gift. Again, you'd need to talk to someone on the tech side but this could be an option as well.
Also you may want to cross post this in the Fundraising & Development Community forum in case anyone there has some insights!
Hi Matt and Colleen.
I know a little about the backend*
In T_DEFAULTS you can set to one of three values Yes/No/Prompt
Your friendly DBA or Tess Support should be able to help you out
HELP ENTRY: TRANSACT_AS_HOUSEHOLD_CONTR
This setting determines the behavior of the contribution window if an individual constituent is selected and that individual is a primary member of a household. If the value is Yes then the household account is loaded automatically. If the value is Prompt then the user is notified and has the option of loading the household account. If the value is No, then no warning is given and the individual is loaded. The default value is Yes.
* but apparently not a lot about phrasing
Thanks, Heath, that's very helpful to know!
