I am trying to pull lists of constituents who gave within a certain amount range in different fiscal years, and I'm having trouble with the "total giving" criteria. For instance- for our FY18 campaigns, I want to see how many donors whose total giving for the fiscal year fall in the ranges of $.01-24.99, $25-49.99, and on up. What's happening is it's looking at individuals and households separately- so it's pulling in certain individuals whose total giving for the INDIVIDUAL is in that range, but they belong to a household in which the total giving is outside that range. So the lists are inaccurate. I did check the option under Advanced Relationship Options to replace the individual with the household, but I'm finding that it's still reading the individual data and not the household's.
Does anyone have a method for pulling this accurately? It's a logic puzzle that has me stumped- it seems like such a normal thing to want to pull, but I just cannot find a way. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Chelsea, the Total Giving element, paired with Campaign, should produce what you're looking for. I'd expect that you'd be swapping your list with household? Without doing that, you would pull in affiliate accounts with Initiator records. Feel free to email me if you'd like - mhall@clevelandorchestra.com.

Hi Megan, thanks so much for your response. I agree, the total giving + campaign SHOULD pull what I'm asking for- I did elect in the advanced relationship options to replace the individual with the household, but I found that what it's doing is reading the individual's data but listing the household. For example, it's pulling in a household account that gave a $1,545 gift that fiscal year (I set the total giving range for $.01-24.99) because it's looking at the individual account, which was not set as initiator on that gift, so the individual total giving does fall within the specified range. However, this doesn't give me what I want, because since they're part of a household, they should be counted as having given that $1,545 gift and therefore should not be included in the count of donors who only gave $0.01-24.99
Does all that make sense...?
Hey Chelsea,
My usage of these elements tends to be 'this total giving amount and more' so it works out, because the individaul or the HH would qualify and be fine. I think that if you truly want just people who qualify for that .01-24.99, you may get what you want by adding a suppression above it in your extraction for total giving $25+.
Hi Megan,
I think you're right- you wouldn't think you'd have to tell it more specifically, but I tried this and I THINK it worked. It made an already tedious project even more tedious, but that happens often in Tess lol. Thanks so much for helping me think this through!
