Hello, I am wondering how other users are handing a seat plaque campaign for fundraising. We are opening up seats our 3 venues and I am looking for suggestions on the best way to set it up. Is there any merit in an elevated event? Thank you! Lucy
Hi Lucy,
When I was at the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts (recently hopped over to the Lyric Opera of Kansas City) We had a seat plaque campaign for our 2 halls. The biggest lesson I learned the hard way was to implement some kind of inventory system early on. If you haven't already considered a solution for that, I would give thought to using the ticketing side of Tess to keep track of which seats have been named and to who. Basically set up a special campaign using your seat maps and whenever someone purchases a plaque, ticket the seat they are interested in to them using a comp price type. Having that visual of inventory was something that I found really helpful when communicating with donors regarding their options. We had always written down the seat numbers, but it was hard to visualize where those seats were in context so we would often end up physically walking the halls trying to find that perfect seat. We also had a custom screen developed to put the inscriptions, respective hall, seat price, etc into. We also used it to note what stage the plaque was in (if it was awaiting payment, sent off to the plaque maker, installed in the hall, etc.) that was helpful.
Here is the custom screen we utilized. This exact model might not be the right fit for you, but I hope it gives you some ideas!
Hello Molly and Lucy - if either one of you would be willing to share the script for this my team here would so appreciate it! Can either of you email me at DPiendak@92ny.org? Molly Sefton Lucy Clemens
Hi Danielle,
I ended up not using a custom screen, but had a performance set up for each of our venues to track the locations that were sold. I put a note on the ticket order with the inscription, but also created a Program Name type for each venue. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck with your campaign! Lucy
