Donations within orders

Hello! I was thinking it would be interesting to report on what shows people are booking for who include a donation in their order (we have the option to donate at the checkout) and I can't see how I would do this. I've had a little look at dashboards but can't see anything obvious. Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks, Ros

  • This is one of those questions that crosses what I sometimes call the fundamental “ticketing / contribution divide” in Tessitura.  Because of that we have to get a bit creative in using Tessitura Analytics.  Most of the data cubes work with one or the other of these data types.  However, not all is lost.  There are several ways to cross the divide.

    • You could use the Finance cube and “follow the money”. However because this cube uses a finance way of thinking with credits and debits, and has less information about performances it may or may not serve your needs.  But give it a try.
    • The second approach is to find the accounts involved, with both tickets and contributions in the same order.  This can often be approximated with standard lists criteria.   If you get a list that you like that finds the people you can then make the list available to Tessitura Analytics, and filter your Tessitura analytics dashboard.  However at that point you will only be able to say things about the customers you may find it difficult to tay things about specific orders.
    • Finally writing SQL can do this kind of thing more accurately. SQL could be used to pull the data directly, or be used to enhance list and output sets, to do a better job crossing the ticketing contribution divide.

If you would like an opportunity to discuss further please join us at an analytic Coffee, this is a group of Tessitura users who get together for an hour each week to discuss such questions.  You would be warmly welcome.

  • This is not really helpful for past reporting, but we have a fund called Annual Fund and one called Annual Fund Add-on. They have the same GL and go into the same campaign, but donations added at check out only flow to the Add-on Fund. That allows us to report those separately if needed

  • This is really helpful thank you so much. I'm really interested in the analytic coffee and one of my colleagues who works in Marketing would be too.

  • Thanks you that's brilliant I'll have a look! Ros
