WealthEngine

Just wondering who out there has used WealthEngine: Prospect Research Technology?  We have it and are using it just fine but it was suggested that we import the WealthEngine information into Tessitura.  Just wondering if anyone had any experience doing this, what fields you imported (Inner Circle, P2G Ratings...), and if it seemed helpful or worth the time and money to do?  Any information/experience you could share would be a great help.

  • We are using ResearchPoint, a Target Analytics/Blackbaud product.  Our researcher feels the only advantage to WE is that you get the results a little more quickly.  Otherwise, RP seems to be far more useful and accurate, much easier to confirm or reject data, and doesn’t overinflate capacity.  Manipulating data, like changing and adding wealth information that you find during the course of more extensive research, is also easier.  It is significantly pricier than WE and may not work at organizations with limited resources.

Our IT department helps us with importing data into Tessitura from many outside vendors, including RP or WE.

If you would like to speak to our researcher directly for more details, he’s happy to answer any questions and share his experiences.  Eric Siegel may be reached at ESiegel@SCFTA.org.

COCA is looking into Wealth Engine.  Has anything changed in the last 2 years since this posting that would improve the import capabilities?  Or have other products researching prospects replaced Wealth Engine?

We did a Wealth Engine screening of about 50,000 constituents a few years ago.  I only imported the capacity and prelim capacity into a custom tab which included other 'moves management' type information.  I made sure it was clear that the information came from a specific wealth screening on a specifc date.

One can't assume that this information is 100% correct so for us it was just a starting point for more research.  Our staff are aware that the Wealth Engine capacity is by no means their actual capacity.

I also made sure to create a help document that I added to Tessitura explaining the Weath Engine screening and data so future users can read what its all about.

  • We've taken to getting regular updates from WE (monthly) of small batches of customers, so, being always on the lookout for a way to save myself some work, I created a report/utility that will upload an excel file using the BCP procedure that Tess created. We did some tweaking to figure out how to deal with cases where they get new data on a customer that's already been screened (when to default to the old data, when to overwrite etc). It works well, and now when devo gets their regular updates, they simply save a file in the ImpFtp directory and run the utility, and their data is loaded a custom table.

  • Brian,

We are getting ready to import some data from WealthEngine into Tessitura in the next month.  I would love to email or talk with you about what you have done so I can share with our Tessitura software developer/administrator.
