Planned Giving in Tess

Hi All,

We’re reevaluating our planned giving program and how we use Tess functions to support it. If anyone has insight on the structure of their Planned Giving Campaign in Tess as it relates to fiscal years and financial forecasting – any suggestions, intel, or best practices would be great. Especially examples around irrevocable vs. revocable gifts.

We’d also like to pull reports on planned giving. Is there a report that pulls the information from the plans in the “planned giving” radio button?

Appreciate support in this area!

Thank you,

Sydney

  • Hi Sydney,

We're in the process of a review of our Planned Giving now. Still working through, but with the great reporting we can get out of Analytics, we've decided to retire the Planned Giving section of Tessi and have created a process to use the Plans module for our Gifts in Wills program.

We're about 3 months in to this new way and it's working well. We've created a dashboard that shows our GiW Manager her full portfolio including moves management, step reminders and completed steps. proposed and received gifts and types of gifts etc.

Happy to chat further if you're interested.

  • Hi Jordan,

Thanks for getting back to me. This sounds interesting... Curious, how does your org. record irrevocable v. revocable in plans?

    Best,

    Sydney

  • Hi Sydney,

We don't come across many irrevocable gifts at our org but we would create a step type for a number of fields like this. Step types can also feed through (and be filtered) in analytics. even the free form text. You can also extract step types in the Step Detail report as well as criteria in Lists and Extractions.

    We use:

    • Plan Type to record type of gift (asset, monetary, residuary estate etc)
    • Plan Status to track moves management
      • we use the same terminology as the Major Giving team to keep language universal, e.g. Cultivation, Intends, Confirmation Received etc.
    • Ask field to record the low estimated gift amount.
    • Goal field to record the high estimated gift amount
    • We use the probability field % to gauge our prediction against the certainty of a gift coming through.

    Cheers,

    Jordan
