Updating Custom Fields via Plan Maintenance

Hi
Is it possible to update a custom plan field via Plans Maintenance? It doesn't look like it to me, just wanting to confirm....
Thanks

  • Sure can (unless I mistake your meaning)
Just inserting a new plan w. custom fields ...

... Then I used plans maintenance to update the custom field (application) to unsuccessful

  • Thanks, Heath. This is helpful, but what I need is to be a bit more granular than that and was hoping to able to update one by one in the grid view you get after you hit "Populate" in plans maintenance. One of our custom fields is for "Original Goal" and we are at the time of the year that giving officers need to review their annual fund plans and update the goal if needed. When they update the plan goal they then populate the Original Goal field so we don't lose track of what we budgeted for at the start of the year. Since they need to update many donors who have plans with the same campaign and designation, that grid is an easy place for our giving officers to see all of their annual plans "excel style" in one place to make updates without having to open a donor record, find the right plan, update the plan, save the plan, close the record, open the next record, find the right plan, etc.... With the grid, they can just make their edits and hit update, saving lots of time.
    Best

  • The only way I've found to do this is through sql. I know that's not an option for everyone, but if you have access or someone at your org does it can be done pretty quickly.

  • Thanks, Melissa. That may be the route we have to take...

  • You can get your team to fill in the changes in excel with a table and just update with SQL in a 10sec copy and paste job. I can write the code if you need. Its litterally a copy the column out of excel and paste into SSMS and run (disclaimer: in test first of course).
