Prospect/donor management question: Staff assignments

Hi,

I am new to Tess coming from Raiser's Edge. I am responsible for managing the Exec Dir and Dir of Philanthropy in moves management. I know that I can assign them as workers on plans as they relate to campaigns.....My question is can I have someone be assigned to a worker if there isn't a plan or campaign in place yet?

    You can set up a prospect campaign (https://www.tessituranetwork.com/Help_System/Content/Campaigns%20Appeals%20and%20Sources/Prospect%20Campaigns.htm) and create plans for constituents who may not truly be in a solid plan yet.  You can assign the plan a worker and no steps if you don't need that much detail yet, and then switch the campaign and other info on the plan when you know what your ask will be,

    We also created an attribute called Solicitation Contact which I always include in my mailing list output.  That way if someone who has a relationship with our Director of Membership shows up in our year-end appeal or gala invitation list, for example, we are easily alerted that we should pull that letter or invitation out for the Director of Membership to personalize.

  • I heartily endorse the Prospect Campaign.

    Similarly, we also use an Attribute, which we call "Portfolio Manager". For us, the worker wouldn't change year over year, so it's helpful to have this consistent tag. Depending on your office culture, you could also configure it so that users can--or can't--add more than person via the Attribute.

    Some of the reason this has worked so well for us is that we use Attributes really widely. Basically every time we get a report customized or tweaked, we'll ask for an Attribute slot or two to get added, which makes its easy to pull this stuff in to gift reports, performance KPIs, lists of outstanding pledges, etc. Output sets make this even easier.
