What types of things do you use an Elevated Event for? Any lessons learned about when to use and when not to use?
Thanks in advance!
Sue StCharles
We use elevated events for any event that has a cost (we often do not have a deductible amount as our events aren’t used for fundraising but more so stewardship, so it’s just a straight event cost).
We also use them for large scale events that require more management than activities can give you. For example we have a yearly 4th of July event that is a free event for our major donors, but it’s a large event with guest names and name tags, etc so we need to manage it in Elevated Events with a cost of $0.

We have tried using elevated events for things like a Symphony Ball or other seated dinner events that were driven by the development department and did not have a performance component.
My biggest caveat for using them is that they only work well when you have a very rigid structure of price (donation) levels with fixed deductible amounts that are well known in advance.
For a situation in which the deductible amount won't be known until after the event takes place (which has been the case for the ones I've tried to set up), it becomes too much work to make reality match what is in Tessitura after the fact.
